Preko is a small town in the central part of the island of Ugljan, only half an hour by ferry from Zadar. Ugljan is the closest island of the Zadar archipelago, separated only by a narrow channel. There you can find both sandy and rocky beaches, beautiful Mediterranean landscapes and preserved untouched nature. Numerous bays are ideal for sports such as sailing, surfing, water skiing, and snorkeling. There are two small islets in front of Preko and on one of them there is a Franciscan monastery. Preko is the administrative centre of the island, and a perfect starting point for an excursion to the island's highest point St. Michael’s fortress (265 m above sea level). The view from the fortress spreads over more than 200 islands.

Kukljica

Kukljica is a picturesque tourist and fishing village, situated on the SE of the island of Ugljan in central Dalmatia. Kukljica is often referred to as “The gate of Nature Park Telašćica and Kornati National Park" because it is situated near the crossing Ždrelac. The old downtown lays in a large natural bay with a protected harbor. It is always full of boats, yachts and sailing ships. There are 4 islands perfect for a sailing trip in the vicinity of Kukljica – Bisage, Golac, Mišnjak and Karantunić. The main attraction of Kukljica is the traditional procession by boat on the 5th of August(since 1514), when the statue of Our Lady is taken from the votive church of Our Lady of the Snow to the parish church of St. Paul.
